Pt. Bhimsen Joshi National Festival of Music and Dance Hyderabad 2016 In Aid of Children with Autism at “Autism Ashram”, Shamirpet in association with “Simply Give Foundation”
Suranjali Foundation, A non profit organization working towards promoting Indian Classical Music is
organizing the 5th season of its annual Pandit Bhimsen Joshi National Festival of Music & Dance
2016 in association with M/s.Tata Capital , Tata Projects Ltd & Telangana Tourism from 13th May to
15th May 2016 at Taramati Baradari, Near Golconda Fort, Hyderabad.
Pt Bhimsen Joshi National Festival of Music and Dance 2016 is organised in aid of Children with
Autism at Autism Ashram, Shamirpet, Hyderabad and in association with Simplygive Foundation.
Music Lovers of Hyderabad in many occasions came forward to offer their gratitude and respect to the
noble souls who propagated Indian Classical Music transcending even Indian boundaries. With the
same spirit and synergy, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi National Festival of Music and Dance Hyderabad
2016, was conceived for the first time in Hyderabad in 2012 and it got institutionalized as an Annual
National Festival of Music and Dance in Hyderabad.
While revealing the details of this year’s program, Sri Mohan Hemmadi, Chairman Suranjali
Foundation said “You will be happy to know that our association with Bharat Ratna Late Pt.
Bhimsen Joshiji goes back to five decades. Bharat Ratna Late Pt. Bhimsen Joshi is an
international figure with his followers spread all over the world. To show our deep gratitude and
honour to this great heavenly soul, Suranjali Foundation has initiated a Festival dedicated to Pt.
Bhimsen Joshi in Hyderabad in year 2012 was a grand success in terms of Artist participation,
music lover’s response and also a very good feedback from the entire music community of India and
abroad and also the Media and Suranjali Foundation has decided to host the event annually”
Further revealing the details, Sri Abhijit Bhattacharjee Secretary General, Suranjali Foundation said
“This year, the festival is being organized from from Friday 13th May to Sunday 15th May 2016 at
Taramati Baradari, Near Golconda Fort, Hyderabad with proactive patronage and support from
TATA Capital, Telengana Tourism, TATA Projects, and State Bank of Hyderabad as sponsors;
Mercure Hyderabad KCP, an AccorHotels Brand, as hospitality partner and DD Bharati as TV
Partner and Vibrant Nissan as Ground Transport Partner, Monkstar as Online Partner, DNN
Diaspora Network News as Diaspora partner and powered by Act Fibernet (internet partner). A
three day program will witness stalwarts in classical music being performed live to enthrall the
audience.”
As part of third and final day programs, a Kathak Dance Ballet on Meera was performed by Ms Shama
Bhate and group.
This was followed by ear heartening fusion music by group of musicians lead by Bollywood Playback
Singer Ms Mahalaxmi Iyer along with Purbayan Chatterjee (Sitar) , Shashank Subramaniam (Flute),
Satyajit Talwalkar (Tabla), Manas Chowdhury (Bass Guitar), Rhythm Shaw (Guitar), Rakash Ulliyeri
(Key Board) , Arun Kumar (Drums).
