Netflix and Hoichoi Partnership Brings Bengali Stories to More Indian Language Audiences

Bengali-language entertainment is set to reach a wider audience through a new partnership between Netflix and Hoichoi, which will bring selected series to viewers in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Under the two-year agreement, upcoming Hoichoi series will be available on Netflix in the three languages alongside their Bengali premieres on Hoichoi. The collaboration also includes a collection of 14 existing titles and plans to develop new adaptations based on selected Hoichoi stories.

The partnership covers several genres, including crime thrillers, detective mysteries, folklore-based horror, courtroom dramas, social stories and romance. The move is expected to introduce Bengali storytelling to viewers who may not ordinarily watch content in the original language.

The existing collection includes titles such as Madam Inspector, Sampurna, Lajja, Eken Sirji, Anjaan Saaye, Bloodlines, Queens, Parineeta: A Love Story and Mahanagar, among others.

The first new series announced under the arrangement is The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi, a folklore-inspired horror show starring Jeetu Kamal, Solanki Roy and Paoli Dam. It is scheduled to premiere on November 6.

Netflix and Hoichoi will also work together on original series inspired by selected Hoichoi stories. These projects will be produced by Hoichoi Studios, with further details about the adaptations expected to be announced later.

The agreement reflects the growing importance of regional-language programming in India’s streaming market. As audiences increasingly watch content across languages, dubbing and multilingual releases provide producers with opportunities to reach viewers beyond their traditional markets.

For Hoichoi, the partnership offers a route to expand the reach of Bengali productions. For Netflix, it adds regional stories and new adaptations to its entertainment catalogue.

The collaboration combines existing shows, upcoming releases and original adaptations, giving audiences more ways to discover stories rooted in Bengali culture and storytelling traditions.
