An informative webinar on awareness about autism and cerebral palsy
There is not much awareness regarding autism and cerebral palsy in India. With an aim to brief people about these conditions, Dr Pradeep Mahajan will be addressing an interactive webinar on August 3, at 4:00 pm.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental abnormality that occurs in early childhood. The condition refers to a characteristic triad of symptoms: impairments in social interaction; impairments in communication; and restricted interests and repetitive behavior. Moreover, the prevalence rate in India is approximately 1 in 500 or 0.20% individuals. Likewise, cerebral palsy has also become a growing matter of concern. It refers to a group of neurological disorders that affect muscle movement and coordination. In many cases, cerebral palsy affects the vision, hearing, and sensation. It is the most common cause of motor disabilities in childhood. According to a report published in The British Medical Journal, in India, the estimated incidence of cerebral palsy are around 3/1000 live births. Thus, it is the need of the hour to spread awareness regarding these conditions.
Dr. Pradeep Mahajan, Regenerative Medicine Researcher, StemRx Bioscience Solutions Pvt. ltd. Mumbai, said, “Unfortunately, mental and neurological conditions are considered as a taboo in India. Furthermore, the majority of the population resides in rural areas, where the knowledge about conditions like autism and cerebral palsy is limited, and they could be mistaken with the other conditions. But today due to digitalization, it is possible to gather information from around the world with just one click. Similarly, this interactive session about the treatment options for autism and cerebral palsy using Regenerative Medicine can be an eye opener for the ones attending it. People will get an opportunity to seek a solution to their problem, and benefit from it”.
