Fire breaks out at Goregaon Film City set, no injuries reported
MUMBAI: A fire broke out in a temporary structure at Mumbai’s Goregaon Film City on Monday, affecting a set associated with the production of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The fire started at around 4 PM in a temporary structure behind Prime Focus Studio. The Mumbai Fire Brigade and other emergency agencies responded to the incident.
The blaze was brought under control by around 4:55 PM, according to reports.
The affected structure contained items including electrical wiring, installations, cables, wooden materials, air-conditioning equipment, bamboo, plastic materials and sound and shooting equipment.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association confirmed that the set of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 was among the production areas affected by the fire.
The incident comes at a time when several film and television productions are operating across Film City. Temporary sets commonly use a combination of electrical equipment, construction materials, lighting and other production infrastructure, making safety arrangements an important part of large-scale shoots.
No casualties were reported in Monday’s incident. Details regarding the extent of damage to the production set and equipment are being assessed.
Fire incidents at film-production facilities can disrupt shooting schedules and cause damage to sets, technical equipment and other production material. Production houses generally work with fire-safety arrangements and emergency teams during shoots, particularly when large temporary structures are involved.
The latest incident has once again drawn attention to safety at Mumbai’s major production facilities.
Authorities and production teams are expected to assess the cause of the fire and the damage caused before affected shooting activities resume.
The incident did not result in reported injuries, and emergency personnel were able to bring the blaze under control within the same afternoon.
