Shraddha Kapoor Celebrates Maharashtrian Handloom Style in Purple Paithani Saree

Actor Shraddha Kapoor brought traditional Maharashtrian fashion into the spotlight with her appearance at the trailer launch of her upcoming film Eetha. The actor chose a purple Paithani-style saree paired with traditional gold jewellery, presenting a look rooted in regional craftsmanship and festive dressing.

The saree featured gold detailing, traditional motifs and a broad metallic border. Its golden-pink pallu added contrast to the rich purple base. Shraddha paired the ensemble with a magenta blouse featuring floral embroidery and puffed sleeves.

Her accessories included a traditional nath, gold jhumkas, a layered necklace and fresh gajra. The actor completed the look with a small pink bindi, smoky eye makeup, soft blush and pale pink lipstick. Her hair was styled in a half-up look with loose waves.

The ensemble highlighted the appeal of Paithani-inspired sarees, which are closely associated with Maharashtra’s handloom traditions. Paithani sarees are known for their intricate weaving, colourful silk fabric and distinctive motifs, often featuring peacocks, flowers and other traditional designs.

The look also reflected how regional attire can be styled for contemporary events. Traditional jewellery and classic draping were combined with modern blouse detailing and makeup, creating a balance between heritage and current fashion trends.

The appearance coincided with the trailer launch of Eetha, directed by Laxman Utekar. Shraddha plays Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a celebrated Lavani and Tamasha performer from Maharashtra.

The film draws inspiration from Vithabai’s life and her contribution to folk performance traditions. Its trailer features glimpses of Lavani, traditional costumes and the world of Maharashtra’s folk theatre.

Shraddha’s outfit brought attention not only to celebrity fashion but also to the cultural significance of traditional Maharashtrian clothing. Paithani-inspired sarees continue to be popular for weddings, festivals and special occasions, offering a way to incorporate regional textiles into modern wardrobes.

The styling demonstrates how traditional garments can remain relevant through thoughtful combinations of colour, jewellery and contemporary design elements.
