Ali Fazal Brings Royal Groom Style to Tarun Tahiliani’s Tasva Showcase at Lakmé Fashion Week

Actor Ali Fazal brought a regal touch to the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week as the showstopper for designer Tarun Tahiliani’s Tasva menswear collection, which explored the changing style preferences of the modern Indian groom.

The showcase combined traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary tailoring, offering alternatives to conventional wedding attire. The collection featured sherwanis, dinner jackets and Indo-Western ensembles designed for different wedding functions and formal occasions.

Inspired by Indian art and craft traditions, the collection incorporated motifs such as the Tree of Life, Lipan art and paisley patterns. Techniques including Aari and Zardozi embroidery, mirror work and intricate surface detailing added texture and character to the garments.

The designs balanced these traditional elements with modern cuts and carefully structured silhouettes. The approach reflects a growing interest among consumers in wedding clothing that retains cultural significance while allowing room for personal expression.

Fazal’s appearance added a celebrity highlight to the presentation, bringing attention to the collection’s emphasis on refined, contemporary groom styling.

Indian wedding fashion has increasingly expanded beyond the traditional sherwani. Modern grooms are exploring layered ensembles, tailored jackets, lighter silhouettes and coordinated separates that can be adapted to different ceremonies, receptions and celebrations.

Designers are also drawing on regional craftsmanship and heritage techniques to create distinctive collections for contemporary customers. Such approaches help keep traditional skills visible while introducing them to new audiences through modern designs.

Tasva’s presentation demonstrated how classic Indian menswear can be reinterpreted without losing its connection to heritage. By combining detailed embroidery and familiar cultural motifs with contemporary tailoring, the collection offered a range of options for men seeking both tradition and versatility.

The showcase formed part of the October edition of Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India, which brings established designers, emerging labels and industry professionals together in New Delhi.

The collection adds to the wider conversation around personal style in Indian wedding fashion, where comfort, individual preferences and craftsmanship are becoming increasingly important alongside ceremonial tradition.
